Recap of September 11th “Prereflection”

On September 10th, 2015, the Honors College, along with Student Government held a preflection about September 11th, 2001. The way that the conversation was set up was with five panelists which included different viewpoints and share their stories about their 9/11 experience. The panelists included university professors, scholars, and Mason alumni. After they shared their own experiences, the audience broke out into smaller groups of seven or 8 and shared how they viewed this event, which occurred 14 years ago on this date. The different smaller groups shared different opinions about their different experiences. Everything from international perspectives, to those who were in New York and Washington D.C. during the attacks, was shared within the small groups. The event was a great way to kick off the 9/11 day of service, which included more than sixteen possible service projects for members of the Mason community to participate in.

Thank you to all of the men and women who serve in our armed forces and as first responders, the speakers at the event, and our guests.
